Mel and Isaac's Wedding
Isaac and Mel were a delight to work with as we planned their wedding. As their Canberra celebrant, I discussed options with them, and they embraced ideas that reflected their vision and really made their wedding a fabulous celebration. It was a day of smiles and laughs from the very start.
They chose the stunning grounds of Lake George Winery for their wedding, and it was an immediate decision when they first looked at the venue with their mums. They loved the reception area at the cellar door and they knew that the ceremony setting under the tree and near the vines was perfect for their vision of their wedding.
Your entrance sets your vibe
Isaac and Mel loved the idea of two entrances, giving each their time to shine. Each entrance was unique and truly ‘them’. Isaac had organised a group of his friends to be beer boys which signalled the imminent arrival of the Groom and his team, on the back of a ute. They looked fabulous coming through the vines to the wedding guests.
Mel’s arrival was preceded by her flower boys who were adorned with statement flower sunglasses. Mel walked in accompanied by her dad with her proud mum watching close by.
Importantly, as each member of the wedding party came forward, there were lots of hugs, kisses and wonderful greetings. These again helped set the tone and reflected the relationship each person in the wedding party had with Isaac.
As your celebrant I make sure these moments of connection happen, they don’t just occur by chance!

Including family
Mel and Isaac wanted their family included in their ceremony in real and meaningful ways. Their mums light their family candles early in our ceremony. Mel and Isaac used their family candles to light their unity candle before they exchanged vows. Have a look at my blog if you want more information about candle ceremonies.
Isaac’s brother and Mel’s uncle shared reflections with the happy couple, words specially chosen for their wedding.
We remembered significant people who were no longer with us, but who Mel and Isaac knew were with them in a special way. Family members handed out confetti for the end of the ceremony while other family members witnessed Isaac and Mel sign their legal documents.
Mel and Isaac’s wedding really was family focused!
Easing the nerves
Nerves are natural on your wedding day – they simply reflect the importance you give to this day. They are one of the many feelings and emotions you’ll have cascading over you on your wedding day. From my check in with Mel before the wedding, to the greetings for Isaac, promises by guests and ‘paper, scissors, rock’ to work out who went first when it came time to vows. There are many planned and spontaneous moments that as your celebrant, I make the most of in your ceremony to helped ease nerves and spark a laugh.
Maximising backgrounds
Mel and Isaac’s photographer Olia Photography and I chatted before the wedding. Briefing all your vendors on your wedding day is an important part of my role as your celebrant and it is part of the way I make sure everything flows smoothly. Knowing that Mel and Isaac were planning a dip kiss as they exited, meant that Olia was ready to capture that moment, with their guests in the background. Similarly, we organised a second ‘first kiss’ so that Olia could capture the expressions of family and friends as the backdrop to this special moment. It’s always one of my favourite photos!!
Isaac and Mel’s family and friends enjoyed a fabulous evening celebrating their wedding heading to the cellar door/reception area after the ceremony. It was an afternoon of fun and laughter celebrating the love of this wonderful couple!
