Lauryn and Fergus's Wedding

Lauryn and Fergus’ wedding was a fabulous ceremony filled with emotion, love and fun. As their wedding celebrant, I loved how in tune they were with each other and how aware they were of what would make the day perfect for them.

The Benefits of A First Look

Many couples wonder about having a first look – time with each other before the ceremony, to be with each other, to share that special moment of seeing your life partner ready for your wedding, before your ceremony. Lauryn and Fergus knew it was what suited them best. Time together first, then with their immediate family and wedding party … and then time to relax before the big moment.

In having their first look, Lauryn and Fergus lost none of the emotion of walking down the aisle, and they were relaxed and able to enjoy each moment of their wedding day – which is the most important thing!

Being sensitive to the needs of their fur baby, Larry. The quieter time of the first look gave Lauryn and Fergus the chance for some family photos without stressing Larry by involving him in the ceremony where he would be surrounded by lots of strangers.

Importantly, Lauryn and Fergus built in time between their photos and the ceremony just to be and relax, sharing a cup of tea and enjoying time together before joining all their family and friends. Their first look photos were around The Boat House which meant they were already at their ceremony location, so no need to build in travel time … and the spacious grounds of The Boat House meant that their guests didn’t accidently see our gorgeous couple before they were supposed to.

The Wedding Ceremony

We had planned a family candle ceremony, with Lauryn and Fergus’ mothers lighting candles representing their respective families before Lauryn and Fergus lit their unity candle before they exchanged their vows. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans for us … and Lauryn and Fergus wisely chose to adapt and have the candles inside during their reception. They became a beautiful feature during the speeches by their mums and later by Lauryn and Fergus. Being adaptable and willing to make sensible changes is key to having an enjoyable wedding day! Some things like the weather are beyond your control so flexibility is important.

Lauryn’s flower girls and wedding party greeted Fergus as they walked down the aisle ahead of Lauryn, special moments again captured beautifully by The Tale Of Two, but more importantly, they brought a smile to the faces of the guests and eased Fergus’ nerves.

Lauryn and Fergus opted to use the natural beauty of the grounds of The Boat House, you really don’t need anything additional to frame your wedding ceremony set up if nature provides you with a stunning backdrop!

As your wedding celebrant, I always encourage you to step away after you’ve signed the legal documents and just relish being a married couple – all by yourselves. The Tale Of Two captured some special moments shared by Lauryn and Fergus as their witnesses completed the legal requirements.

The Wedding Memories

I look back on Lauryn and Fergus’ wedding as a spectacular day … that was truly them. There were so many aspects of the day they intentionally created, knowing that they would appreciate the time and space in amongst all the big emotions of their special day. I was touched at the rehearsal seeing the connections with their mums, who play such an important part in their lives and then privileged to see that unfold in various ways on their wedding day.
