Brenda and David's Wedding

Brenda and David’s love story is one of those gorgeous, heart-warming stories that makes you smile from the very first line. After being part of each other’s lives for many years, the timing finally was right — and there they were, at The Boat House, saying “I do” with their closest family and friends gathered around them.

Together, we celebrated their very own fabulous version of The Golden Girls meets The Farmer Wants A Wife — and honestly, what a joy! From the very beginning, Brenda and David knew their grandchildren would have a special place in the ceremony, and they stepped into that role beautifully. I think they were every bit as excited as their grandparents … until “The Kiss”, when the reactions were priceless 😉

One of the most beautiful parts of the day was seeing Brenda and David’s grandchildren standing proudly beside them. It said so much about what matters most to them: family, connection, and the deep love they all share. And it was very clear that love flows both ways.

Brenda and David chose The Boat House for their wedding, and what a stunning setting it was. The original plan was an outdoor ceremony with guests facing the lake — picture-perfect and full of that lovely Canberra waterside charm. But the wind had other ideas! With wild gusts making things tricky, Brenda and David calmly and wisely chose to move the ceremony indoors. It was such a thoughtful call, and it made the whole experience so much more comfortable and relaxed for everyone. The Boat House team were fantastic, quickly reshuffling the ceremony set-up so guests arrived to a warm, welcoming space instead of battling the breeze.

This is exactly why having a Plan B is a wedding-day lifesaver. Because there was already a solid, beautiful option ready to go, the decision felt easy rather than stressful. A last-minute change can feel huge, but when the backup plan is just as lovely, everyone can relax and get back to enjoying the moment.

Tuchasoul, our talented musical duo, brought such a gorgeous atmosphere to the day. They played as guests arrived, during the wedding ceremony, and then helped get the party started afterwards. Steve and Kirrah are fabulous, and Brenda was absolutely delighted when she found out they were available for her wedding.

Everything about Brenda and David’s wedding and reception felt effortlessly elegant. Brenda’s flowers by Embassy Florist were stunning, the room at The Boat House looked beautiful overlooking the lake, and their wedding cake by Bec from The Spence Grocer was such a sweet highlight. Brenda’s gown was glorious too — and knowing she once worked for Anthea Crawford, I chose my own dress especially with Brenda in mind.

Brenda and David’s wedding celebration was a wonderfully happy day filled with warmth, laughter and love. Long-time friends and family spent the afternoon celebrating, dancing and soaking up the joy of two people who are so clearly and deeply loved.
