Maddy and Josh's Wedding

Maddy and Josh came to their wedding planning with a clear sense of what mattered most: a ceremony that felt relaxed, personal and full of heart. They had plenty of ideas, were open to creative suggestions, and wanted the day to celebrate both their beautiful family and their love as a couple.

Their intimate celebration took place at Brindabella Hills, a gorgeous Canberra wedding venue with views across the valley and river. The tiered ceremony space gave guests a wonderful vantage point and created a warm, connected atmosphere from the moment everyone arrived.

The team from Mel Hill Photography were there to capture the planned moments and the wonderfully unplanned ones too — including me doubling as a very practical “table” while Maddy signed legal documents before the ceremony. Those are the little behind-the-scenes memories that make a wedding story special.

Including their daughters was a big part of the day. Yes, they were adorable flower girls, but Maddy and Josh also found meaningful ways to involve them throughout the ceremony. A recorded message from the girls was played just before they walked down the aisle, and after signing a family certificate, Maddy and Josh gave each daughter a special gift. It was a beautiful reminder that a wedding can honour a couple’s relationship while also celebrating the family they have built together.
